Dr. Wong is First in Hawaii to perform Sub 2.0 mm Micro-incision Cataract Surgery!
On May 9, 2011, Dr. Wong performed the first complete Micro-Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS) in the State of Hawaii. Current Cataract Surgery technique uses an incision smaller than 3.0 mm from start to finish. Using the Bausch and Lomb Stellaris MICS system, Dr. Wong performed the first successful sub 2.0 mm cataract surgery in the State of Hawaii. Operating completely through a 1.8 mm incision, the cataract was removed, and an artificial lens implant was placed without using any injections or sutures. This technique offers the benefit of less surgical trauma, and quicker recovery with less induced astigmatism for the best vision results.
